Bulgarian athletes won one gold and three bronze medals on Thursday at the European Championships for Athletes with Down Syndrome, held in Padova, Italy.

Alexander Asenov won the European title in the 100m sprint, improving the previous record in the discipline with a result of 14:26 seconds. Radena Angelova finished third in women’s competition ithe same discipline with a result of 17:77 seconds.

Romanola Sikander took bronze in the 800m race walking with an achievement of 6 minutes and 15:76 seconds. Bulgaria's 4 x 100m medley relay, featuring Sikander, Radena Angelova, Boyan Vandev and Alexander Asenov crossed the finish line in 1 minute and 12:54 seconds.

By the end of the event, Bulgaria will have representatives in the long jump, triathlon, shot put, 200, 400 and 1500 meters and race walking
