Bronze in Women's Freestyle 57 Kg Wrestling,
Earning Fifth Medal for Bulgaria


Tokyo, August 5 (BTA special correspondent Dimiter Velyov) - Wrestler Evelina Nikolova won a fifth medal for Bulgaria at the Tokyo Olympics on Thursday after defeating 2016 Olympic vice champion Valeria Koblova (Russian Olympic Committee) in the bronze match in the women's 57 kg freestyle.

Nikolova pushed Koblova down on the mat at the end of Part 1 and defeated her by fall in 2:49 minutes. By the end of the match, Nikolova had a 5-0 point lead.

In the semi-finals on Wednesday, the 28-year-old Bulgarian, who won bronze at the 2021 European Championship, lost against two-times European champion Iryna Kurachkina of Belarus. Before that, she defeated 2020 European champion Anastasia Nichita of Moldova by 6-3 points. RI/VE
