The New BG Wine Leads the Way series, a special bilingual, Bulgarian and English, edition by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), has just been published. Each of the nearly 200 participants in the 9th UN Global Conference on Wine Tourism, organized by the Ministry of Tourism in partnership with the UN World Tourism Organization, will receive a complimentary copy. The event begins on the evening of October 5 in Plovdiv and will run through October 7. The series was printed with the support of the Ministry of Tourism.
The conference, themed “The Art of Wine Tourism”, will be officially opened at the Boris Hristov House of Culture, Plovdiv on Sunday and will provide a platform for industry experts from around the world.
The series highlights 110 Bulgarian wineries, categorized by wine regions: Northwestern Bulgaria, Central Danubian Plain, Northern Black Sea, Southern Black Sea, Sakar and Eastern Rhodopes, Eastern Thrace, Western Thrace and the Rose Valley, and the Struma Valley.
Tourism Minister Milosav Borshosh introduced the national campaign Wine Leads the Way on September 16 at the BTA National Press Club in Sofia. The campaign, launched by the Ministry of Tourism, aims to promote wine tourism across Bulgaria.
A key element of the campaign is the launch of BTA’s new editorial section New BG WINE Leads the Way, which focuses on news from Bulgarian wineries. Minister Borshosh expressed his gratitude to BTA for embracing the campaign’s vision and playing a key role in its strategic implementation.
He said that Bulgarian winemaking is currently at an exceptionally high level. Borshosh also announced plans for a national wine tourism conference, to be organized jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The event will, for the first time, bring together all stakeholders in the wine tourism sector to map out the current landscape, assess progress, identify support needs, and chart the way forward.
