The next boycott of retail chains will be on Thursday, February 20, said Maya Manolova of Rise Up BG Movement at a public discussion on food affordability, organized by the For Affordable and Quality Food Association here on Tuesday at BTA’s National Press Club.
Manolova believes that there is a need for state intervention on the food market in Bulgaria and in basic necessities.
She spoke in favour of measures to stimulate local producers, which could include relief and quick and cheap access to the retail market; bringing to light all elements of food retail chains, including prices and mark-ups and, finally, setting a ceiling on mark-ups for chains.
The event was opened by National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova.
