The success of actions to tackle climate change depends both on action on the ground and on close international cooperation with partner countries, said British Ambassador to Bulgaria Nathaniel Copsey at the Green Business is GREAT conference here on Tuesday. The green cities event was organized by the British-Bulgarian Business Association (BBBA) in cooperation with the British Embassy in Bulgaria, and was held under the auspices of Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev.

Copsey pointed out that the UK has achieved a number of diplomatic successes over the years, and the big lesson learned from this is that success comes from working closely with the country's friends and partners. This is also true in the area of climate change," he said. In addition to the measures the UK is taking at home, international action will also be important. In his words, his country is moving steadily towards a zero-emission economy, The UK is working with its partners in Bulgaria in its efforts to support and improve energy efficiency and also 'clean up' the energy mix. The UK is also working with many other countries in Central and Eastern Europe, in the Balkans, in the Black Sea region, the Ambassador said. He added that failure to plan and adapt to climate change would have devastating consequences on humanity.

With this conference, the BBBA aims to showcase the British and Bulgarian experience of green transformation through successful projects and business practices.
