site.btaTourism Minister Miloshev Takes Part in UN Tourism Executive Council's 122nd Session
Caretaker Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev participated in the 122nd session of the Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) and the Global Forum on Investment and Innovation in Tourism in Cartagena, Colombia, the press center of the ministry said on Monday.
The main subjects of the session included sustainable tourism development, the challenges of climate change and the need for green transformation in the sector. During the session, Brazil was elected as Executive Council Chair, while the Czechia and South Africa were elected as Vice-Chairs.
Miloshev discussed with UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili the possibility of holding a tourism forum in Bulgaria. During the talks, steps for the future support of the organization in the creation of the brand "Balkans" were also discussed. Pololikashvili expressed his support for increasing Bulgaria's connectivity with the countries of the Far East. Miloshev extended an official invitation to the UN Tourism Secretary-General to visit Bulgaria.
Miloshev also held strategic meetings with counterparts from Spain, Brazil, Bahrain, as well as with a number of representatives of the tourism business. The talks reaffirmed Bulgaria's commitment to international cooperation and highlighted the country's active role in developing sustainable models in tourism.
"The world of tourism today is dynamic - it needs continuous renewal, a clear vision for the future and a strong foundation for sustainable development. Bulgaria has the power to be a key player on the international stage, and as a country with rich cultural and natural resources, we can offer not only destinations, but also new opportunities for tourism that leave a lasting mark and impressions on tourists," Miloshev said.
The 123rd session of the Executive Council will take place in May 2025 in Madrid, Spain.
