"We are starting immediate talks with the relevant ministries to identify urgent measures to ease the passage of heavy traffic through border crossings. All options will be explored to find realistic and quick solutions to this issue," caretaker Transport and Communications Minister Krassimira Stoyanova said on Wednesday at a meeting with organisations from the automotive sector, the Transport Ministry said.

Stoyanova also said that she was aware of the problems in passenger and freight transport and would work with the industry organisations to improve conditions in the sector.

The Minister said that the work in the administration would be accelerated so that there would be no delays, both in administrative services and in the drafting of regulatory changes.

The representatives of the sectoral organisations expressed their support and readiness for joint action so that measures are taken to bring about sustainability in road transport and increase efficiency in the supply of transport services.

The taking of urgent measures to ease the traffic congestion at Danube Bridge on the border with Romania was discussed in end-August during a meeting between Stoyanova, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, caretaker Regional Development Minister Violeta Koritarova andcaretaker Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov, the Council of Ministers press service said. Glavchev tasked the minister with discussing and taking joint actions with their Romanian counterparts. The Prime Minister was adamant that the heavy trucks traffic should be separated into trucks from the EU and those from third countries.
