Due to the availability of liquidity and the drying up financing opportunities in the developed Western markets, the experience gained and the living conditions in Sofia, the private equity and venture capital ecosystem here is already attracting the interest of mid-sized funds and companies that until recently relied on financial resources from Western Europe, the Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth, Martin Gikov, said here Tuesday. He was among the speakers of the opening panel in a two-day conference on Financial and Investment Support for SMEs - Sofia International Money Expo" (SIM EXPO 2023) taking place in Sofia's Inter Expo Center.

The event is organized by the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with Sofia Municipality.

Deputy Minister Gikov urged the representatives of small and medium-sized companies to be active "because the financial resources are available and the state institutions are prepared to make sure they reach the business. We are talking about available resources through grant schemes, but also through financial instruments, including equity and debt financing.
