Argentinian jazz and bossa nova artist Karen Souza is expected in Sofia for a celebration of Bulgarian singer Vasil Petrov's 30 years in music. On January 21, the guest will be at Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) to sing her greatest hits before the concert The Best of Vasil Petrov, the organizers said.

Karen Souza is one of the most influential jazz and bossa nova voices of the present day. She became popular with her cover versions of some of the world's greatest hits. Her initial success allowed her to develop her potential as a songwriter.

Fashion designer Ralph Lauren invited Souza to sing at the launch of his new collections for two years in a row. Her songs Creep (Radiohead), Tainted Love (Soft Cell) and Paris are part of the soundtrack of famous Netflix films and series such as The Zero Theorem (2013), White Lines (2020) and Dynasty (2021). Today, her music is popular worldwide, with 250 million Spotify streams registered so far. She has released six albums, international audiences love her, and she has become a world icon.

Vasil Petrov recorded a duet with Karen Souza in the summer of 2024.

During his anniversary concert on January 21, Petrov will present the best of his musical repertoire, including jazz standards, pop and rock interpretations, film themes and original compositions to be presented in symphonic versions. He will be joined on stage by singers Hilda Kazasyan and Maria Ilieva, kaval flutist Theodosii Spassov and violinist Zornitsa Ilarionova. They will be accompanied by the Pleven Philharmonic and a jazz trio consisting of Nikolai Kostadinov on piano, Daniele Febbo on bass and Kristian Zhelev on drums, under the baton of Hristo Pavlov.
