A book presenting each of the 125 years since the establishment of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) by one major domestic and international development will be press-launched at the Apollonia Festival of Arts at the Sozopol Art Gallery on Friday.

The book, titled News on File: 1899-2023, is the third in a set marking the anniversary that BTA marked in 2023. The previous two are Personal Stories, in which current and former staffers of the Agency share their experiences, and History of BTA 1898-2023, written by Panayot Denev, who was BTA Director General between 1997 and 2002 and edited by Prof. Roumiana Preshlenova, PhD, Director of the Institute of Balkan Studies with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Prof. Preshlenova also acted as a consultant for the third book and last book in the series, and Denev wrote the foreword.

The festival's programme on Friday includes the premiere of Ivan Teofilov's book Anthology of Bulgarian Symbolism. The event will take place in the Art Gallery in Sozopol.

The 125th anniversary of Pantcho Wladigeroff's birth will be celebrated with a concert at the Archaeological Museum in the seaside town. His four grandchildren - Pantcho Wladigeroff Jr, Ekaterina, Alexander and Konstantin will play some of the most moving compositions of their grandfather.

The film Blaga's Lessons will be screened at the Summer Cinema. Stefan Komandarev's movie has become one of the most awarded Bulgarian films, after taking the Crystal Globe Grand Prix in Karlovy Vary, a nomination for the European Film Awards, a prize from the jury in Rome, and seven Golden Rose awards. The film follows the story of retired teacher Blaga, who falls victim to a telephone scam. In the lead role is Eli Skorcheva.

A play based on a script by Zachary Karabashliev's Sunday Night will be performed tonight at the Otets Paisiy Community Centre. The performance is directed by Bina Haralampieva. Anastasia Lyutova, Vasilena Atanasova, Ivan Yurukov, Martina Todorova, Stoyan Mladenov, Alexander Karasanski and Atanas Chopov play roles in the production.

The finale of the evening will be set by Stefan Valdobrev and The Usual Suspects at the Apollonia Amphitheatre.
