The Ivan Vazov National Theatre's theatrical production of The Tempest, directed by Robert Wilson, will open the international Shakespeare festival in the Romanian city of Craiova (May 16-26), the National Theatre reported. The Bulgarian performance will be staged twice, on the first and second day of the festival, on the stage of the Romanian National Theatre.
The International Shakespeare Festival, considered one of the most important thematic festivals in Europe, and among the most significant Shakespeare festivals in the world, is organized by the Marin Sorescu National Theatre in Craiova and the Shakespeare Foundation. In this year's 14th edition, the organizers of the event are joined by the I.L. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film Arts in Bucharest, giving the festival an educational dimension as well.
