The eighth edition of the Burgas Game Jam hackathon will be held at the Peyo Yavorov Regional Library in Burgas between January 26 and 28, the BurgasLab non-governmental organisation, organiser of the event, said.

Those interested in taking place in the hackathon can register on the BurgasLab website. Participation in the event is free, but spots are limited.

This year's hackathon theme will be announced on January 26 at the library. Participants will then have the opportunity to form teams. The event will bring together writers, designers, programmers, testers, game enthusiasts, hobbyists and professionals.

The annual hackathon in Burgas is part of the Global Game Jam world series. Since the Global Game Jam was established in 2009, nearly 80,000 games have been created in 131 countries. In 2023, the event included 800 locations in 108 countries, with a total of 40,000 registered participants who created 7,600 games.

Hackathon participants will work in teams and will have up to 48 hours to come up with a game. It can be digital, tabletop or physical.

The event is non-competitive.
