"We Create Stories. We Create History" is the motto of the 50th edition of the International Book Fair in Sofia. The opening is on December 5, and the forum continues until December 10, the organizers of the Bulgarian Book Association (BBA) announced.

The host is the National Palace of Culture (Sofia's NDK conference centre). This is the largest ever exhibition in Sofia, and the number of participants is over 170, the BBA chair Desislava Alexieva told BTA.

"This year will mark an important anniversary edition of the International Book Fair - it has been half a century since its launch - 50 years during which, while creating stories, we ourselves have been making history. A history in which we fought every day to promote literature, to bring books to the people, to spread meaning and to encourage literacy," the organizers said.

The 11th edition of the Sofia International Literary Festival is also taking place from December 5 to 10. One of the highlights of the forum is Scandinavian literature. Among the foreign authors who will be guests at the forum are Agustina Bazterrica, Annette Bjergfeldt, Egill Bjarnason, Yrsa Sigurdardottir, Max Seeck, and Selja Ahava.
