Snezhana Popova's Exhibition Bridge Between Two Worlds will open in the Bulgarian Cultural Institute London (BCI) on February 16. The paintings depict London and Bulgaria and will be exhibited in "Sofia" Gallery until March 1, 2023.

"The symbolism of the bridge is the connection from one place to another, and one is constantly making these choices about which side of the bridge to stand on," Popove wrote on Facebook. "The organizers of my exhibition have asked me if I have a painting related to Bulgaria. Of course I have and one of them is 'Surva in Svetlya' and it constantly reminds me of the small village of Svetlya in the Valley of the Masks [in southwestern Bulgaria]. Just last week there was an International Festival of Masquerade Games and it brought me back to my memories and my homeland. The painting has the energy of the Survakar inside me."

Popova uses photography as her primary tool in her research for unique attractive compositions and settings of her subject matter, of which she then uses in her studio where she continues with the creation of painting on her canvases. She chooses to paint with either oil or acrylic on canvas as her main choice of mediums, her official site Popova Arts says.

That's her first solo exhibition although she has many paintings in private collections and has participated in New Year and Easter bazaars in NDK-Sofia.

"In my school years I was preparing for admission first to art school, then applying to the Art Academy. At that time, I had a big passion for animation, but Fate had other plans: family, children, home and career. However, my soul always wanted to draw," she says, cited by BCI.
