Labour and Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov, in response to a question from journalists regarding next year’s budget, said “We will do everything possible to ensure that no social group is left at a disadvantage.” On Monday, Gutsanov took part in a round table discussion on the prevention of early marriages and childbirths, part of the campaign of the State Agency for Child Protection.
“When we talk about both pensions and support for mothers, our goal is the same, to make sure no one is disadvantaged. Pensions will continue to be updated according to the Swiss rule. We will work to increase the financial support for raising a child during the second year of motherhood,” he added.
Gutsanov said that “these are the discussions we are having with the parties in the governing coalition,” adding that so far, all such issues have been resolved through understanding and agreement.
Asked about the 2026 minimum wage and why a government decree has not yet been issued, Gutsanov said that the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation will hold a meeting later on Monday afternoon, during which all related questions will be addressed. “Our decision, and this is in line with the law, sets the amount at BGN 1,213, so I believe the minimum wage will remain within that range,” he said.
Regarding the Swiss rule used to adjust pensions, Gutsanov stated that there are no plans to change it. He pointed out that this year no social benefits were reduced and that no vulnerable groups were negatively affected. “We will take the same approach in the coming year,” he added.
Asked about the rotation of the National Assembly Chair and what the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) agreed to in exchange, Minister Gutsanov replied that a press conference was held yesterday at the BSP headquarters, where all political questions were addressed.
