Presidents Rumen Radev of Bulgaria and Vjosa Osmani of Kosovo discussed topics on the agenda of regional cooperation and the European integration of the Western Balkan countries during a session in the Saudi capital Riyadh. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 9th Future Investment Initiative forum, hosted by Saudi Arabia, the Bulgarian President's press service reported on Wednesday.
Radev said during the talks: “The unwavering commitment of Kosovo to building stable institutions and deepening regional cooperation is in the interest of both Southeast European countries and the European Union, and deserves recognition and support.”
The two leaders agreed that the progress of countries applying for EU membership should be assessed based on their own achievements and the reforms they have actually implemented. In this context, Radev highlighted the political and public consensus in Kosovo in support of the country’s European integration, and the systematic actions of its institutions in this direction.
The Bulgarian President thanked his counterpart for the measures taken to support the Bulgarian community in Kosovo and for its institutional inclusion.
