The Velichie party will not support a rotation of the Parliament Chairperson, Deputy Floor Leader Krasimira Katincharova told the media on Wednesday. "It does not matter which members of the ruling coalition will take the post, this will simply reopen the debate surrounding the difficult election of the Parliament Chair," said Katincharova.

GERB and There Is Such a People raised the issue of introducing a rotating chairmanship of the National Assembly at a meeting of the Joint Governance Council on Tuesday. Nataliya Kiselova was elected to lead the Bulgarian Parliament on December 6, 2024. She was nominated by BSP-United Left and was elected in the 11th attempt.

Katincharova added that the parties in the ruling coalition would negotiate to maintain what she described as "the humiliating state of our country", where the population is rapidly becoming poorer, the deficit is set to become unmanageable, and inflation is a fact. According to Katincharova, the very fact that no draft budget has been submitted yet shows that the government itself is uncertain about whether it even wants Bulgaria to join the euro area.
