GERB and MRF - New Beginning are one party now, MP Ivaylo Mirchev (Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria) said in Parliament here Wednesday. "It is dangerous for our country because from now on [New Beginning leader Delyan] Peevski will run Bulgaria single-handedly. We will put up strong resistance to that," he said. 

Earlier in the day GERB and the MRF-New Beginning put out a joint statement to confirm a "commitment to upholding the agreed legislative and governance programme aimed at ensuring stability and continuity in the interest of citizens and the state. In a Facebook post GERB published two photos, one of the deputies of the two groups and the other of the two leaders, Boyko Borissov of GERB and Delyan Peevski of MRF - New Beginning, sat close to one another with broad smiles. 

Mirchev also commented that "the captains are afraid to even rearrange the deckchairs on the Titanic". "Borissov is finished, gone into retirement. Peevski is making the decisions now," the MP said.

Fellow MP Bozhidar Bozhanov (Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria) said that the legislative should go ahead and amend the Judicial Power Act to revise the rules and elect a new lineup of the Supreme Judicial Council. He argued that this is the way to "remove Peevski from the judiciary". 

Peevski is widely believed to be exerting undue influence over the judiciary.
