Rumen Radev, the head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, awarded the Presidential Medal of Honour to Major General (ret.) Ivan Parapunov, Lieutenant Colonel Stefan Stefanov, and Major Dimitar Grigorov for their contribution to national security. The awards were presented at an official ceremony at the Presidential Administration on Wednesday, marking the Aviation and Air Force Day, which falls on Thursday.
Radev said that the three honourees are examples of professionalism, duty, and dedication to the aviation cause. Radev noted that through their work, they uphold the authority of the Air Force and inspire younger generations of pilots and aviation specialists. He also expressed his gratitude to the officers' families for their support and dedication.
Parapunov expressed gratitude on behalf of the recipients. He stated that the award is a symbol of trust and recognition that brings a sense of pride and belonging to the Air Force and the Bulgarian Armed Forces. He stressed Radev's contribution to the development of military aviation and the establishment of the professionalism of Bulgarian pilots.
