The Parliament building Square was illuminated in green on Saturday as a sign of support for the European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation, observed annually at the initiative of the Council of Europe.

On this occasion, National AssemblyChair Nataliya Kiselova said that Parliament supports the information campaign to promote organ donation. “In doing so, we pay deserved tribute to organ donors and express gratitude to their families for their humanity and compassion in the most difficult of times. Today’s initiative is also a show of support for the medical teams working in the field of transplantation, who give people a second chance at life,” she noted

Kiselova added that the European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation aims to engage more people in this noble cause, highlight the importance of saving human lives, and increase public trust in the donation process.

The Parliament’s participation in the awareness campaign was at the invitation of the Executive Agency for Medical Supervision, which is organizing a series of events to mark the European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation.

Varna was one of more than 27 municipalities in the country taking part in the initiative.

The facades of four buildings in Varna – the Headquarters of the Navy, St Marina University Hospital, the Medical University, and the Regional Administration were illuminated in green on the occasion of the European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation.
