site.btaPolitical Consultations Held Between Foreign Ministries of Bulgaria, Austria

Bilateral political consultations between the Foreign Ministry of Bulgaria and the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria took place in Sofia on Tuesday, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry’s said in a press release on Tuesday.

On the Bulgarian side, the consultations were hosted by Director General for Political Affairs Gergana Karadjova, while the Austrian delegation was led by Director General Hannah Liko.

The two sides discussed current issues on the European, international, and bilateral agenda, including the Russian military aggression against Ukraine – also in the context of the OSCE and the recently held elections in Moldova, the situation in the Middle East, multilateral matters such as UN reform and mutual support for candidacies, as well as the European perspective of the Western Balkans in light of the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Council’s working methods, including decision-making processes within the EU.

At the bilateral level, and in the context of their constructive cooperation within the EU, the two sides noted significant similarities in their positions on many of the issues discussed. Bulgaria and Austria will continue to seek opportunities to deepen their traditionally good relations, the Ministry’s statement further said.
