In the past 24 hours, the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection received 58 incident reports. Of those, 24 were weather-related, including 23 for fallen trees and branches and one for water drainage, Directorate head, Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov told a news briefing on Tuesday following a meeting of an operational taskforce at the Ministry of Interior in response to the worsening weather conditions in the country.

"We have unofficial reports of flooded areas in Lozenets village and the Nestinarka holiday complex, but the water has already receded there," Dzhartov added. Earlier, the Municipality of Tsarevo reported localized flooding in the lower parts of Lozenets. He explained that in Lozenets, there is a hotel complex whose open areas have been flooded, and drainage operations will begin once the water inflow is assessed. “There is no danger to the public,” said Dzhartov.

So far, 39 flooded sites remain without restored power supply, he added, noting that in the morning, the number was 51. “There is no worsening of the situation,” Dzhartov said, adding that there is no concentration of incidents in any particular populated area. He also clarified that there are no critical points, and no evacuations have been necessary.

Deputy Interior Minister Toni Todorov said: “We are receiving information from across the country by the minute in order to respond appropriately to the weather conditions.”
