Speaking on bTV on Saturday, Chief Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, advisor to the Interior Minister, said that over the past 24 hours, the Fire Safety and Civil Protection General Directorate has received 340 weather-related alerts. He noted that most of them concerned fallen trees and flooding caused by the heavy rainfall.
Nikolov said that another major issue was the power outages affecting around 100 settlements. He added that work is underway to restore power in the affected areas.
"The situation is currently calm, and our colleagues in Elenite remain on duty," the Chief Commissioner said. Construction standards in areas prone to flooding must be very strict, he added.
The severe weather across the country has caused major damage, with three people losing their lives in the devastating floods in Burgas.
