National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova met with a delegation from the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), led by CPAFFC President Yang Wanming, Parliament's press office said on Wednesday.
Kiselova said that Bulgaria highly values its traditionally good friendly relations with China, which were promoted to the level of strategic partnership in 2019. Kiselova recalled that in 2024, a number of initiatives marked the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, demonstrating a clear desire to develop and deepen ties in a number of areas of mutual interest.
She highlighted transport and logistics, trade, investment, technology and innovation, agriculture, tourism, and education as areas with great potential for cooperation. "I am pleased to note that the peoples of Bulgaria and China share traditions of friendship and mutual respect, which continue to be the basis for a stable partnership between the two countries. Despite the geographical distance, our nations are united by the values of peace and the pursuit of prosperity," said the National Assembly Chair.
Yang Wanming expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that his visit to Bulgaria was proof of his country's sincere desire for even more active bilateral relations. He emphasized that the Bulgarian-Chinese partnership is an example of mutual respect and trust, which are developing successfully in a spirit of equality and cooperation. He conveyed to Kiselova a special invitation from the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji for an official visit to China.
Kiselova expressed her high appreciation for the interaction with the CPAFFC and her satisfaction with the active dialogue and joint work within the framework of the cooperation initiative between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. She noted that such contacts and exchanges of experience are a bridge for even longer-term and fruitful relations between Sofia and Beijing.
