Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth Tomislav Donchev met with Speaker of Japan's House of Representatives Fukushiro Nukaga. The meeting took place at Fukushiro Nukaga's official residence in Tokyo, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth said.
The two discussed the possibilities for deepening economic ties between Bulgaria and Japan, with an emphasis on bilateral cooperation in areas such as information technology, scientific research and the automotive industry.
During the meeting, the possibilities for attracting Japanese companies to Bulgarian industrial parks were also discussed.
Donchev stressed that Bulgaria's capabilities are not limited to the production of yogurt and rose oil. "Our country has enormous potential for development in industry, information technology and artificial intelligence. It is important to set high goals and have the ambition to develop products and services that will help us face global challenges," he said.
The Speaker of Japan's House of Representatives congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister on the Bulgarian pavilion at the World Expo in Osaka and expressed his good impressions of his visit to Bulgaria in 2024 at the invitation of 50th National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan.
Donchev said that Japan is a priority strategic partner, but above all a good friend for Bulgaria.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Japan Marieta Arabadzhieva.
Donchev is part of the Bulgarian delegation that left for Japan for the opening of EXPO 2025 in Osaka, which took place on April 13. Bulgaria participated at the exhibition with a class A pavilion and was among the first countries with an exhibition space certified by the organizers.
