Speaking to reporters in Parliament on Wednesday, ahead of debates on a motion of no confidence against the Zhelyazkov Cabinet, Iskra Mihaylova, one of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning Deputy Floor Leaders, said that “Bulgaria needs a government that works for the people now – not at some point in the future”. 

This is the second no-confidence motion against the Zhelyazkov Cabinet. It was submitted on April 10 by the Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) parliamentary group on claims of corruption and is backed by the MPs of Vazrazhdane and Velichie.

Hamid Hamid, also a MRF - New Beginning Deputy Floor Leader, echoed the words of the coalition’s leader, Delyan Peevski, that the no confidence votes have no chance of succeeding. Hamid added that no discussions have been held about whether the MRF - New Beginning will formally join the ruling coalition.

While Mihaylova did not comment on the processes within Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - MRF, Hamid referred to Ahmed Dogan’s associates as “buffoons”. 

DRF and MRF - New Beginning are factions resulting from a rift in the once-solid Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), when its Honorary Chair Ahmed Dogan and Delyan Peevski clashed over who should control the party.
