Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said at the beginning of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday that road safety remains an important issue for the Cabinet. The actions will not be spontaneous but permanent, the Prime Minister assured.

He said that he had ordered Interior Minister Daniel Mitov and Deputy Minister Todorov to provide all the necessary resources in view of the upcoming holidays because of the expected increased traffic. Zhelyazkov requested that the available personnel be prepared and ready to instill the necessary respect in road users, as well as with regard to over-traffic, speed, drug and alcohol use. The goal is to make people travel safely and securely, including transit traffic, which is the task of also Regional Development Minister Ivan Ivanov and Transport Minister Grozdan Karadjov, the Prime Minister said. He has ordered full interoperability of systems, which should lead to full integration of information systems and arrays, so that there is a systematic approach to control in the future. The government will not allow political intentions to once again stumble over expert considerations, Zhelyazkov noted.
