site.btaSerbia, Bulgaria and Croatia Are Europe's Top Three Countries with Largest Share of Smokers


Bulgaria ranks second in Europe after Serbia in terms of the share of the population that smokes in the country, according to the latest World Health Organization (WHO) data quoted by Turkish television Haberturk. According to estimates for 2025, 38.8% of people in Bulgaria smoke, while in Serbia the share of smokers is 39%.
Croatia is third in Europe with 37.6%, followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina with 35.2% smokers. A significant percentage of the French also have the harmful habit - 34.6%.
The data refer to the population over 15 years of age.
