The Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) Thursday decided to reopen a procedure for the election of a Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) President. The procedure will follow a time frame proposed by the Judges Chamber starting on November 21.

Nominations can be made at the next four meetings of the Plenum. The election of the Court's President is scheduled for March 20.

Judge Atanaska Disheva objected to the reopening of the procedure on the grounds that no one was nominated in the previous one, which ended a week ago. Judge Olga Kerelska concurred, saying that this was a controversial procedure.

The first procedure opened on October 17 and failed due to a lack of candidates in the course of four weeks. The election was to take place on March 20.

The present SAC leader, Georgi Cholakov, was named acting President as of November 22 until the election of a new administrative leader. He was backed by eight members of the Judges Chamber, while two voted against.
