There will be no difference between Bulgaria and Romania on their way to Schengen, President Rumen Radev told journalists after taking part in observances of the Armed Forces Day.
Romania will join Schengen by land from January 2025. The decision will be taken on Friday in Budapest, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said in a televised interviewn.
“We expect a positive result, but my call, as well as that of a number of leaders I spoke to in Budapest, is not to rush to speculations on this issue. We are waiting for positive news on December 12,” Rumen Radev said.
I have expressed a very clear assessment and I have also once again presented Mrs Siljanovska with the negotiating framework and the common European consensus of July 2022, adopted with the agreement of the government of North Macedonia at that time. Also - with the Good Neighbourliness Treaty and the second protocol of this treaty,Radev said in connection with a statement of North Macedonia’s President Gordana Siljanovska.
Mrs Siljanovska, as a good lawyer, is very clearly aware that commitments made under international treaties and international agreements must be implemented. Bulgaria is ready to help so that the conditions in the international documents can be fulfilled faster so that the door can be opened for the start of negotiations, the President further said.
