Before attending a meeting with supporters in Yambol, Dzhevdet Chakarov, one of two chairmen of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and leader of the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (ARF) coalition lists in Burgas and Silistra, said that in the upcoming elections his coalition wants to achieve a good result "in the name of protecting democracy, statehood and the normal functioning of institutions". He stressed on complaints about repression and attempts to instil fear throughout the country against ARF members and supporters, adding: "But this is not the way to do politics."

"We have referred the matter to all institutions, we will defend our principles and values with all the tools of democracy," Chakarov added.

"We left the parliamentary group of the MRF because we were against the one-man rule of the party, and to date we are already against the one-man rule of the state," said the top candidate in Yambol Region, MP Dimitar Nikolov. He appealed to those present that everyone should bear their responsibility as citizens in terms of the choices they make and urged them not to become part of the "paid vote".
