President Rumen Radev said that a Wednesday meeting he has scheduled over the October 27 elections with representatives of the competent state institutions was prompted by multiple alerts of vote buying. "Our society has witnessed numerous alerts and publications about bought and corporate votes, even specific names have emerged. This is the reason for today's meeting with representatives of the institutions responsible for the upcoming elections," the President explained.
The head of State took part in the award ceremony for the young people who completed their level in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - Bulgaria.
The Wednesday afternoon meeting, called by President Radev, is expected to be attended by the caretaker Minister of Innovation and Growth Rosen Karadimov, who is appointed by the Council of Ministers as the coordinator of the organizational and technical preparations of the elections, caretaker Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov, acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, representatives of the Central Election Commission and the State Agency for National Security.
"It is important for me as head of State that our society should really understand whether the institutions realize their responsibility towards it and will demonstrate the desired efficiency so that this vicious phenomenon - bought and corporate vote - is finally curbed and can no longer distort the voice of the Bulgarians," Radev added.
Asked if he sees gaps in the work of the institutions, the President said that is why he is convening this meeting. He said it would be open to the media, so that the reports to be presented today would give an idea of how these institutions are doing in their fight against the bought and corporate vote.
