The data from the black box of the L-39 aircraft has been successfully downloaded and provided to the investigating team from the Military Prosecution Office. The information is to be read and analysed to objectively determine the causes that led to the tragic accident, the Ministry of Defence said in a press release Tuesday.

The black box was sent to the manufacturer's plant in Czechia to ensure the successful retrieval of the data, which is a prerequisite for both objectivity and an accurate and complete determination of the causes of the crash, the Ministry stated, adding that a certain amount of technological time will be required for the data reading and analysis, after which the results will be made public.

On September 13, 2024, while preparing for a demonstration flight at the 3rd Air Base near Graf Ignatievo, an L-39ZA trainer aircraft crashed. As a result, the two pilots from the 12th Air Base in Dolna Mitropolia, Petko Dimitrov and Ventsislav Dunkin, perished and were posthumously promoted in rank.
