Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev will attend a ceremony for the inauguration of an armored equipment plant in the Black Sea city of Burgas on Tuesday, the head of State's Press Secretariat said.

International Armored Group (IAG), a Bulgarian-owned global manufacturer of armored vehicles, is a supplier to the Armed Forces of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkiye. At its plant in Burgas, the company will produce armored vehicles, drones for rescue, reconnaissance, and emergency squads, military evacuation cranes, and light patrol vehicles in line with NATO standards.

The initial investment is expected to exceed BGN 20 million. At least 300 people, mainly Bulgarian specialists, will be employed.

In early July, Radev visited International Armored Group’s newly built facility. The training of qualified personnel in Bulgaria and the contribution of the defence industry to economic growth and employment were discussed during his visit. The President highlighted the importance of industrial cooperation, the advancement of logistics, and opportunities to support defence capabilities in the process of the Bulgarian Armed Forces modernization. The implementation of high-tech solutions in the production of defence equipment and the involvement of the scientific community were also discussed.
