Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev and Japan's Ambassador to Bulgaria Hisashi Michigami have discussed mechanisms how to attract more Japanese tourists to Bulgaria, the Tourism Ministry said here on Friday.

During the meeting, Miloshev stressed that the development of the Japanese market is important for Bulgarian tourism and the Ministry will make every effort to offer concrete solutions for attracting more tourists.

Japan’s Ambassador said that about 70% of Japanese tourists visiting Bulgaria are organized groups, as they usually visit two Balkan countries in one trip. The meeting also discussed Bulgaria’s annual events, such as the Rose Festival of Kazanlak, which is well known in Japan and attracts the interest of many tourists from that country.

Miloshev is to pay an official visit to Japan and sign a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of tourism between Bulgaria’s Tourism Ministry and the Japan Tourism Agency. On September 18, the Bulgarian Cabinet approved the draft Memorandum.
