A conference titled From the Source of the Danube to the Black Sea, Healthy Water and a Healthy Life will take place in Burgas on October 15, the Ministry of Education and Science said on its website on Friday.
The aim of the conference will be to promote dialogue between the regional participants in the Danube River Basin and the Black Sea coast, with emphasis to be placed on the scientific research and innovation for the restoration of the Danube River and the Black Sea. The forum will present innovative and environmentally friendly solutions for the restoration of rivers and sea waters and the sustainability of coastal communities.
Caretaker Minister of Environment and Water Petar Dimitrov, European Commissioner Iliana Ivanova, the Bulgarian representative in the EU Mission for Oceans and Waters Ivelina Vasileva and Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov will take part in the conference. The event will also involve other key actors from the Danube Delta and the wider Black Sea communities.
The conference is organized by the European Commission, the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water and Burgas Free University. It is funded by the European Commission and is in line with the European Union's policy to restore water bodies and encourage communities to share in the protection of rivers and seas.
