Presidents of Bulgaria, Republic of North Macedonia to Meet in Sofia Friday

President Rumen Radev is scheduled to meet with the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, on Friday, Radev's Press Secretariat said Thursday. Siljanovska-Davkova will pay a visit for the Sofia tour of the Skopje National Opera and Ballet, which will perform Verdi's Nabucco at the Sofia Opera and Ballet.

North Macedonia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timco Mucunski, and Culture Minister Zoran Ljutkov will also travel to Sofia.

President Siljanovska-Davkova attended Sofia Opera and Ballet's performance of Wagner's Die Walküre at the 52nd May Opera Nights in Skopje on May 18, when she stressed the importance and power of cultural diplomacy as an integral part of international activity.

Siljanovska-Davkova was inaugurated on May 12.

A President of the Republic of North Macedonia last visited Sofia on June 14, 2018 when Gjorge Ivanov paid a two-day visit at President Radev's invitation.

President Radev last paid an official visit to Skopje on February 16, 2018, at the invitation of President Ivanov. This was the first official visit after Sofia and Skopje signed the Treaty of Friendship, Good-neighbourliness and Cooperation on August 1, 2017.

On October 1, 2022, North Macedonia's President Stevo Pendarovski attended a formal event in Sofia for the launch of the Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria commercial operations.
