site.btaFire on Border with Greece Contained
The efforts to deal with the fire on the Bulgarian-Greek border are continuing, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday morning.
The situation in the area is relatively calm. The fire, which crossed into Bulgarian territory late on Wednesday, has been contained but efforts are continuing to prevent it spreading again.
According to DG Fire Safety and Civil Protection, three fire trucks and more than 30 employees from the Regional Fire Safety Directorate - Blagoevgrad were on duty last night.
Later on Thursday, a drone observation will be carried out to determine whether there are active fire fronts in the direction of Bulgarian territory.
Last night, Blagoevgrad Deputy Regional Governor Hristo Angelov told BTA that the fire along the border with Greece had been localized on the Bulgarian side. Rain had fallen over the area, which helped to contain the blaze, he said.
