"I will not give up and I will not betray the people who have given me their trust," Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Chairman Delyan Peevski said on Wednesday in a press release. The position comes in reaction to a letter by MRF Honorary Chairman Ahmed Dogan to all party members, published earlier on Wednesday.

Dogan's letter calls for the resignations of MRF Chair Delyan Peevski, Deputy Chairmen Halil Letifov and Stanislav Anastassov, Deputy floor leaders Hamid Hamid and Erten Anisova, and MRF Central Operational Bureau member Radoslav Revanski. 

"I am not a traitor! No one can stop the New Beginning!", Peevski says in the position.

"Something presented in this way, sent by a group of factionalists, raises reasonable doubts about its authenticity. But! Even if it is so, what is happening?", Peevski says. "Reminiscences of bygone times in which groups of people, structures and persons were wiped out 'from above' with a single phone call or a single fax. Is this an apotheosis of the struggle for democracy, rights and legality or an authoritarian approach incompatible with the rule of law?" he adds.

"Unfortunately, this is exactly what is becoming a living example that Europe and the democratic world will look at, to say the least, with puzzlement," Peevski notes. In his words, "the given assessments are untenable and the demand for resignations - devoid of any form of implementation of the MRF Statute, which is so much talked about these days".

"So what!? What will this demand lead to! At the apogee of the MRF, which we took to the second political power and the record number of MPs in all 34 years, whose will is it that wants to break this success!? And who will bear the responsibility to those who voted us this trust and entrusted to us the hopes of their own lives!? Or are they again being asked to remain silent and obey the overlords who have used them for so long. This is unacceptable and impossible," Peevski says in the position. 

"And no, I will not give up and I will not betray the people who gave me their trust. I am not a traitor! I keep my word!", he says.

"From now on, the path is clear. My team and I continue with our commitments, for a New Beginning, for a better and wiser Tomorrow. We will be with the people and beside the people," Peevski adds further.

As an afterword to the position Peevski says: "Ahmed Dogan and I know each other too well and we both know what the truth is. History will show that I was right. No one can stop the New Beginning".
