site.btaAndrey Gyurov Urges BNB Board to Wait for Court Ruling on His Appeal against Anti-Corruption Commission
Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) deputy governor Andrey Gyurov, who is currently on forced leave, urged the BNB Board not to take a decision on his possible dismissal before the court ruling on his appeal against the decision of the Anti-Corruption Commission, which states that he is incompatible with his position. He has already filed an appeal with the administrative court against that decision.
The BNB Board will meet on July 16 in connection with the case. The meeting is expected to consider whether the Commission's decision on the incompatibility of the BNB deputy governor is grounds for his dismissal from the central bank post. In this case, the BNB will only determine whether the existence of incompatibility is grounds for dismissal of its member, which will then be sent to Parliament for final decision. The decision of the BNB Board, which is different from that of the Commission, can be appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court.
In a position requested by BTA, Gyurov notes that a decision that is not in line with the facts and the law will jeopardize the process of Bulgaria's accession to the euro area.
