site.btaVIHREN 2024 Programme to Promote Excellence in Science

The government approved the VIHREN 2024 National Scientific Programme at its weekly meeting on Wednesday. The programme is aimed to considerably improve the quality of human resources in view of conducting top-level scientific research in Bulgaria. It will support promising scientists who will work together on highly competitive original scientific topics.

VIHREN 2024 will be implemented on a competitive basis by the Bulgarian National Science Fund over the period from 2024 to 2031, using a total budget of BGN 14,175,000.

The programme is expected to enhance the national scientific potential and raise the level of research products, including new knowledge and ideas, some of which will translate into innovative products, services and processes. It is also aimed to raise higher-education standards by attracting promising and leading scientists, contribute to the development of a high-tech, well-educated Bulgarian society, and hence, make the national economy more competitive.

The programme had earlier versions, named VIHREN 2019 and VIHREN 2021.
