site.btaLozenets Hospital Director Is Dismissed

Caretaker Health Minister Kondeva has dismissed the Director of the University Hospital "Lozenets" Dr. Hristo Stoyanov, the Health Ministry said here Thursday. An audit has shown a number of serious violations. The findings of the inspection are that the hospital is in a deteriorating financial situation, with a steady tendency for accumulation and significant growth of liabilities under the period of Stoyanov’s management.

At the end of 2022, the accumulated loss of the medical institution from previous years amounted to BGN 39,858,000. A year later, the loss was already BGN 71,935,000, and as of March 31 this year, BGN 94, 303, 000.  At the end of 2023, according to the balance sheet of the medical institution, the company's liabilities amounted to BGN 25,841,000, an increase of 51.59% compared with the previous year. For the first quarter the hospital owed BGN 28,047,000 in debt, the largest portion of them are to suppliers. There was also a significant accumulation of liabilities to the staff of the medical institution.

Olga Mitsova-Maslarova has been appointed as interim director.
