A total of 38,288 applications have been approved for overseas voting for the early parliamentary elections on June 9, the Central Election Commission (CEC) reported on its website on Wednesday. Another 9,747 applications have been approved for the European elections on the same date.

The deadline for Bulgarian citizens to submit electronic applications to vote outside Bulgaria expired on Tuesday at midnight.

The CEC must announce the final number of countries and voting sections by May 18. The deadline for heads of diplomatic and consular missions of Bulgaria to send a proposal to the CEC for the formation of voting sections outside the country is May 17.

Most applications from abroad to vote in the parliamentary elections have been submitted from:

  • Turkiye – 23,537
  • Germany – 2,713
  • The UK – 2,325
  • Spain – 1,332
  • The US – 1,310.

Most applications from abroad to vote in the European elections have been submitted from Germany with 2,648 followed by Spain with 1,310.
