Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Angelieva has received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed new Jordanian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Mutaz Abdul Rahman Taha Al-Khasawneh, who is based in Bucharest, the Ministry said on Thursday.
Angelieva discussed with Al-Khasawneh the high level of the political dialogue in the context of the visit of the Bulgarian Foreign Minister to Jordan in February, and the opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation and increasing trade and economic exchanges between the two countries. She highlighted the upcoming celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Jordan as an occasion to expand and build on the traditional and friendly relations between the two countries. Angelieva noted with satisfaction the accepted invitation of King Abdullah II to visit Bulgaria this year.
They also discussed current developments in the Middle East region, focusing on the grave humanitarian dimensions of the situation in the Gaza Strip and the need for its alleviation, as well as the immediate and unconditional release of the hostages held by the Hamas terrorist organization.
