Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella visited Novo Selo Training Area (Southeastern Bulgaria) on Thursday, where they were welcomed with a guard of honour by the NATO Multinational Battlegroup. “The army's resource uncertainty and low social status will gradually fade into history,” Radev said.
“The Bulgarian army is still faced with a lack of sufficient resources for combat training. You are working in living and social conditions that are far from the necessity for what you are doing,” the President said.
Radev and Mattarella were familiarized with the mission and activities of the unit, of which Italy assumed the role of a Framework Nation in October 2022.
