site.btaGERB Has No Connection with Caretaker Cabinet, Party Leader Borissov Says After Meeting with EU Ambassadors

GERB leader Boyko Borissov Tuesday said that his party has no connection with the caretaker cabinet and will not bear responsibility for its work. "At the same time, we will continue to be a guarantor of Bulgaria's Euro-Atlantic orientation," Borissov wrote on Facebook following a meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union hosted by Belgium's Ambassador to Bulgaria Frederic Meurice.

"I briefed the ambassadors on the political situation in the country and all the efforts GERB has made to make the Denkov-Gabriel cabinet rotation happen," the GERB leader further wrote.

The participants in the meeting discussed Bulgaria’s financial stability and readiness to join the euro area, its full-fledged membership in the Schengen area, energy diversification, and the upcoming European elections, which will be held simultaneously with this country’s snap parliamentary elections, Borissov’s post reads.

Earlier on Tuesday, the caretaker government of Dimitar Glavchev took the oath of office, which was followed by a changing-of-the-guard ceremony at the Council of Ministers.
