The average monthly temperature in Bulgaria in April 2024 is expected to be higher than usual level, which is 10 C to 13 C for most of the country, 8 C to 14 C along the coast and in high-altitude valleys, and minus 5 C to plus 3 C in the mountains. The lowest temperatures in April will be mostly between minus 2 C and plus 3 C, and the highest will vary between 27 C and 32 C, Krassimir Stoev of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology told BTA on Friday.

The average monthly amount of precipitation in April will be around the usual level, which is between 30 and 75 litres per square metre in the lowlands and 60 to 100 l/sq m in the highlands.

The month will begin with warm and mostly sunny weather, with temperatures reaching 30 C in some areas. April 2 will see a cold front pushing through Bulgaria, bringing short showers and thunderstorms in many parts, and possibly, hailstorms. Temperatures will fall by 4-5 C but will remain higher than usual.

Around the middle of the first 10 days of the month the air mass will be unsettled. Cumulus cloud will bring scattered short showers, thunder and hailstorms. In the closing days of the first 10-day period temperatures will rise again. It will be mostly sunny, with short spells of fog in isolated areas in valleys and plains.

A the beginning of the second 10-day period it will be relatively warm. Precipitation is expected between April 11 and 15 in many parts of Bulgaria. Temperatures will drop, coming close the usual level. The latter half of the second 10-day period will be mostly sunny. Daytime temperatures will rise, but those on the early mornings will be low, creating conditions for frost in lowlands.

Between April 21 and 30, temperatures will be around and over the usual level, and precipitation will be around the usual amount. Cold fronts, with short showers, thunder, hailstorms and relatively low temperatures, are possible around the 22nd day of the month, the 26th and at the end of the month.
