The basic monthly salaries of servicepersons and civilian personnel at the Defence Ministry, structures directly subordinate to the Defence Minister, and the Bulgarian Armed Forces, including higher military schools, will be increased by at least 10% as of January 1, 2024. This was made possible by a Council of Ministers decree adopted on here Wednesday, the Defence Ministry said.

By securing the increase in the basic remuneration of servicepersons and civilian personnel, the Defence Ministry is following up on its consistent policy of increasing salaries in the system. The aim is to reduce the defence capability deficit, especially by recruiting and retaining people in the defence system and addressing the imbalance in their incomes. Improving pay will create conditions for competitiveness on the labour market by closing the private-public sector wage gap and making the military a more desired employer.
