The dismantled bronze figures from the Soviet Army Monument are being transported to the storage site on Saturday. A technical specification for the restoration of the figures was also initiated, said the Sofia Regional Administration. These actions are in fulfillment of the administration's commitment to protect state property with the care of a good steward, the announcement added.
After two orders by the Sofia City Administrative Court, Sofia regional governor Vyara Todeva ordered the suspension of the dismantling activities of the Soviet Army Monument in Sofia on December 19, and the orders were appealed in time, added the administration on the controversial matter of dismantling the monument, which, according to Prime Minister Denkov, divided Bulgarian society.
The Sofia Regional Administration administration indicated that a contract has been concluded with a municipal security company for the protection of the dismantled bronze figures at the storage site. The technical specification for the planned restoration will be carried out by Markovstudio in accordance with a contract from December 22 of this year.
The Sofia Regional Administration confirmed its commitment to restore the figures from the memorial complex, "despite the unfounded and manipulative claims of third parties, which apparently act against the public interest".
