site.btaSixty-seven Children Receive BGN 1,500 from National Charity Campaign for Children of Deceased and Injured Police Officers

A total of 67 children received BGN 1,500 each from the national charity campaign of the Interior Ministry in support of children of officers killed or injured in the line of duty. This year marks 20 years since the campaign's establishment, the Ministry said in a press release on Saturday. The children also received a weekend at the Ministry's recreation facility in the Borovets mountain resort.

The Interior Ministry's leadership welcomed the children at a Christmas party attended by Minister Kalin Stoyanov, Deputy Minister Ivelina Doundakova, Deputy Secretary General Chief Commissioner Dimitar Kangaldzhiev, and heads of administrative and general directorates at the Ministry.

Addressing the children, Stoyanov said: "Together we have created a significant traadition that we have been holding with love and care for 20 years now. Dear children, carry in your hearts the faith in good, and we will be your support so that you can confidently pursue your dreams. In me you have a friend who will always act when you need advice or support."

The financial support for the children of officers killed or injured in the line of duty is possible thanks to all who donated via text messages, phone calls, and money transfers and to the Interior Ministry employees who make donations from their salaries every month, the Ministry reported.

The national charity campaign is held year-round under the auspices of the Interior Minister. Donations can be made by sending a text message to number 1866 for A1, Yettel and Vivacom subscribers or by voice call to 090051866 for Vivacom subscribers. Funds can also be transferred to the charity’s bank account. Last year, 74 children were supported by the charity campaign with BGN 1,000 each on Christmas 2022. The girls and boys also received financial assistance for the Easter holidays.
